Established in 1933 by William H. Wood in Chicago, Illinois National Research Bureau has been a leader in the publishing industry, producing a wide range of products and information services throughout the world. In 1946 the company relocated its headquarters to Burlington, Iowa where it would grow significantly over the next two decades. National Research Bureau began expanding its publishing operations to include a branch office in Washington D.C. during the 1950's. In 1968 National Research Bureau was acquired by the Chicago based firm Automated Marketing Systems (AMS) who operated a conglomerate of printing and marketing businesses, serving clients such as United Airlines and Ford Motor Company. National Research Bureau complemented Automated Marketing Systems printing and marketing operations by adding a publishing division to the company. The synergy created through this particular venture allowed National Research Bureau the ability to further develop and create a series of products which included two business magazines, newsletters, and a series of sports handbooks, as well as several other promotional pieces. National Research Bureau's focus has always centered on quality, creativity, and customer satisfaction, the growth and success that the company has experienced since its foundation in 1933 can be attributed to those relationships that it has developed with its clients and the dedication to their business needs. In 1991 the company was purchased by Michael S. Darnall, President of National Research Bureau and Vice President of Automated Marketing Systems. Incorporated under the name Phoenix Venture, National Research Bureau continues the legacy that its founder created over 75 years ago. The dedication and commitment to quality and service are embedded within the company's culture. The pursuit of excellence and satisfaction are cornerstones which the company's enduring history supports today. It is our goal to maintain those standards within the publishing industry and further sustain and pursue those relationships that have made us who we are today through the products that we produce and the people that we serve.
